HEY! I'M STILL HERE!!

Hey, everyone! I just wanted to take a few moments and give an update of sorts to all my readers out there! It's been a few months since my last post but I wanted to say that the JDawg is doing fine! I have decided on finally getting out of a rut I was in careerwise, man up and step out on faith as I start a new career in the health insurance biz. Yea, not the most glamorous career, but one that should reap more monetary rewards. And with monetary rewards comes more flexibility and freedom. And with more flexibility and freedom, comes the ability to help people out, both financially and emotionally. By helping people out in my next career phase, will come the ability to work my internet-based business and fledging mobile DJ service. I will have the ability to spend more time pursuing these endeavors, which will lead to multiple income streams. I do believe people in this day, age and economy need to wake up if they haven't done so already and have what I call a "Plan B". By earning more income based on my work, I plan to put money I earn to work for me through investments, savings, and into my online business, as well as help out some members of my family, and to finally purchase a home/condo/duplex of my own.

It will happen, because "if your vision is big enough, all the facts in the world don't count".

Now, here's to it!

Stay tuned...more to come!

Peace!

OLD SKOOL JAMZFEST: 2010 RECAP

Saturday evening, January 30th, 2010. My Place. Small crowd. Music. Fun. Libations. Good times. Flashing lights. Food. Pirate Broadcasting. Kicking Back and enjoyin' the ride.

This was the Old Skool Jamzfest 2010, which I hold each and every year in late January or early February, typically to concide with the Super Bowl or Pro Bowl weekend. This year was no exception. I had a very nice evening with neighbors, co-workers and friends stopping by throughout the evening, starting at about 6:30PM CST and going all the way through 3AM the following morning. Yes, I did have a bit too much to drink, as did my good friend C-Smoov, but nonetheless I do declare OSJ 10 a moderate success.

Why a moderate success? Well, this is due to the fact that the OSJ has always been a "wet" party i.e. serving spirits. After this year, I am rethinking that policy just to play it safe in the future. I also decided that some big changes are needed to ensure the success of this event for years to come. So for 2011, I have not fully decided as of yet if I will do one (but it is very likely I will), I am going to make the following changes to my annual old skool house party:

* I plan to focus more on the music and less on my air personality;

* The event will likely be a "dry" event on my part, but will be a BYOB party for those who wish to consume spirits;

* I will limit my turntable time from seven to about four or five hours, running the event from 7 or 8PM to midnight, with a private after party;

* Moving the event from the dead of winter i.e. January, to Spring time i.e. April or May. I think this will do wonders since there will be no bad winter weather to contend with. I figure more people will be apt to make it out;

* Better food choices, perhaps pizza, BBQ, macaroni salad, cheese and crackers and other foods to have more options available for my patrons;

* An overall "tightening up" to make the show leaner and meaner

I do believe by implementing these concepts and ideas, and not consuming any adult beverages during the show I will be putting on will result in more happy satisfied friends and an overall better performance on my part. After all, I am hosting the event.

I have to give pause here, as I dedicated this OSJ 2010 to my late Uncle Doug, who suddenly passed away from a heart attack one week prior to this event. You will be sadly missed, Douggie :-(

Will there be an Old Skool Jamzfest 2011? Probably. And yes it's going to be different in some ways. But better. Trust Me. It will.

My Thanks for all who attended! Y'all made it special this year!

Party On!

2009 YEAR END WRAP...

OK, so I've not been on the stick updating my blog as of late. Yes, life and sometimes sheer laziness does have a way of creeping up on you and not allowing you to live up to your full potential. I am determined in 2010 and beyond to not allow procrastination to dominate my life so much as it did the last decade. Enough is enough. There are things to do, people to meet and places to get to, and I cannot wait. Stuff needs my attention, and it will ALL get done so help me!
So, without further ado, I want to wrap up a few things that transpired since my last post in August 2009....

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (FALL 09) OK, I admit to not watching the entire series this fall, but one of my favorites early on, Russell Ferguson went on to be crowned this season's champ. Yes, I admit he was my early fave to win it all and he actually did! I have a knack for picking em lol Congrats, Russell!...Next up...2010 American Idol...

THE 2009 MILWAUKEE BREWERS I admit, I had high hopes for this team heading into 2009, and for the first two thirds of the season I was riding high. Unfortunately pitching ultimately cost this team another trip to the postseason and they finished with a sub-dismal 80-82 record. What will 2010 bring? I am hoping for a championship, but I doubt it. I'll be happy with a winning record and/or another postseason berth...

2009-10 GREEN BAY PACKERS OK, while the Brewers tanked this season, The Pack started to, going 4-4 heading into a game at Tampa Bay, which hadn't had a victory till we gave them one. But after that loss at Tampa Bay, they somehow found the magic to go on a five game winning streak, losing at Pittsburgh by one point and then kicking Seattle's ass. Right now they are sitting at 10-5 with a trip to Arizona this coming weekend. Win or lose, they are playoff bound with the NY Giants loss last weekend. They have as good a chance as anybody in the NFC right now as Minnesota is starting to tank!!

POLITICS 2009 Really now, don't get me started on this. I am not a fan of Brother Barry Obama's healthcare plan and his overall smugness at redistributing the wealth. It will ultimately fail. While the healthcare bills may pass both houses of Congress, my prediction is that there will be many lawsuits filed and the Constitutionality of how this all passed Congress will be brought to fruition and challenged over and over again in different federal courts. I predict that we will not have socialized healthcare, but the laws will be overhauled in a way to make it less punitive for peole to get. I'm just not sure about this whole deal. I'm watching it, tho...

YEAR END MUSIC Right now, some of the pop tunes I'm enjoying on the radio include these:

Empire State of Mind Jay-Z Ft. Alicia Keys

Sexy Bitch David Guetta ft. Akon

Meet Me Halfway Black Eyed Peas

Tik Tok Kesha

Pretty Wings Maxwell

just to name a few... there are many more, but these are the few that come to mind...

OLD SKOOL JAMZFEST:2010 My annual house party where I boot up my FM transmitter, broadcast on 88.3 FM, will be held Saturday Evening, January 30, 2010 starting about 5PM CST. I will be mixing the best old skool Funk, Soul, R&B, Hip Hop, Dance and House Jams from the late 70's to the early-mid 90's and then some. I will also be mixing up libations for those who can attend and my official invitation is coming soon. Stay tuned.

HAPPY 2010 EVERYONE! Hope the year ahead brings everyone prosperity and health! May it be better than the last year! :-)
